Non-destructive excavation methods include various types of hydro or vacuum excavation trucks, but the procedure of working the machines are similar. The pump provides the suction power to the vacuum hose, which extracts materials from site area into the primary chamber. As the primary chamber begins to fill up, the mechanism stops any debris from getting into the pump, which could cause major damage to the whole machine, otherwise, the materials make their way to the secondary chamber. Once the job is completed, the discharge valve can be used to safely dispose of the waste that had been collected.

This suction technique can collect liquids, water, sewage or any wet material, along with dry materials found at construction sites, manufacturing facilities, farms or any industrial worksite.
